Set in large gardens with a waterfall, the modern Hotel Playa La Arena has a magnificent marble entrance hall with high ceilings and large pillars. The hotel is located on the picturesque coast of Santiago del Teide, just 75 meters from the volcanic beach. Guestrooms have patterned bedspreads and curtains, with modern dark wood furniture and glass doors leading on to balconies, some with panoramic views of the sea and mountains. En-suite bathrooms have complimentary toiletries; all rooms have air conditioning, cable television, direct-dial phones and minibars.
Sun-worshippers can top up their tans in the solarium or out on the terraces, both of which have spectacular views of the sea and island of La Gomera. Buses also leave regularly from the airport to the central bus station in Santa Cruz de Tenerife at La Avenida Maritima, North Tenerife Airport (for inter-island flights), Los Cristianos and other destinations on the island. Taxis on the island are relatively cheap, and the bus network serves most of the main site of interest.
