The Aldemar Knossos Royal Village is a holiday resort with blue and white bungalows set in gardens on the tip of a bay overlooking the Aegean sea, situated 25 kilometres from Heraklion on the island of Crete. The complex features 390 modern villas, all of which open onto balconies with ocean or garden views; accommodation also provide cable television, refrigerators, bathroom telephones and safes.
The village includes 11 bars and restaurants serving Italian, Greek and international cuisine. The Aquarius nightclub offers a program of entertainments and shows and one can sip cocktails in the Beach Bar or try a Greek vintage in the Cellar Wine Bar. There is a choice of two freshwater and two seawater outdoor pools with a 45 metre waterslide and a freshwater indoor heated pool. An arts and crafts shop, jeweller's and boutique offer gifts and souvenirs to browse. Guests can check email in the Internet corner and receive beauty treatments in the hair salon. Guests can play mini-golf, volleyball and tennis with professional instructors at hand for special training programmes. The games room has pool tables and table tennis and the gym has fitness equipment with a sauna, Turkish bath and jetted tub. A mini-club offers fun schedules for kids, with a variety of recreational activities, a playground, a giant outdoor chess board and two children's pools. For a surcharge there is access to the neighbouring Thalasso Spa. Bikes can be rented at the hotel and access is provided to a horseback riding centre 22 kilometres from the hotel. Local attractions include the Minoan Palaces of Malia (ten kilometres away) and the Knossos (25 kilometres) and the vibrant city centre of Heraklion (also 25 kilometres). Nikos Kazantkakis Airport is 25 minutes by car, 23 kilometres (14 miles) from the hotel.
